Jeanine Finn joined the library in August 2017 as the CLIR Data Services Postdoctoral Fellow. Jeanine received her Ph.D. in Information Science at the University of Texas at Austin, her MLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has a decade of library experience. She has deep skills in discovering and locating data and also in data curation and preservation. Jeanine’s two-year CLIR project focuses on working collaboratively with librarians to develop a robust suite of data services to support student and faculty research across the seven Claremont Colleges. Building on her first successful year, Jeanine transitioned into an ongoing position as the library’s Data Services and Digital Scholarship Coordinator in summer 2018.
Elizabeth Richey became our Original Cataloging & Metadata Team Leader in September 2017. Elizabeth came to Claremont from Florida State University, where she worked as a Cataloging Specialist since 2015. At FSU, she performed original and copy cataloging plus authority work in multiple formats and done programming projects. Earlier she was Copy Cataloger, also at FSU, and Document Librarian at Eli Lilly & Co. In addition to her library work, Elizabeth has taught ancient Greek, Latin, and mythology at FSU and Indiana University. Elizabeth is proficient in several ancient and modern languages and computer languages. She earned her MLIS from FSU, Ph.D in Classical Studies from Indiana University, and BA in Classics from Oberlin College.
Ashley Larson joined the library as Special Collections Public Services Librarian in January 2018. Ashley’s responsibilities include research/reference services, instruction, and outreach programming for the division. Ashley has an MLIS from UCLA, an MA in Latin American Studies from Vanderbilt University, and a BA in Latin American Studies from Cal State Fullerton. While a graduate student at UCLA, Ashley worked as Project Manager for California Rare Book School and was an indexer at the Hispanic American Periodicals Index; she also completed an internship in reference and instruction at Cal State Long Beach and an internship in collections processing at the Getty Research Institute. While a graduate student at Vanderbilt, she was assistant to the Latin American and Iberian Bibliographer. Ashley also has experience with event planning at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach..
Jennifer Beamer began her position as Scholarly Communications Coordinator in May 2018. Jennifer came to us from the University of Hawaii where she served as the Digital Initiatives Librarian since 2016, and before that as the College of Education Librarian. Jennifer works collaboratively with librarians, students and faculty across the seven Claremont Colleges to support copyright, authors’ rights, fair use, peer review publishing, research impact, open access, and open educational resources.
Raemi Thomas joined the USERS division in June 2018 as the newest UX Ambasador. Raemi brings on-campus experience as an alumna of Scripps, where she was active in student organizations, an RA, and in the library as a CCEPS Fellow. While working at Upland Public Library, Raemi discovered her true interest is in supporting and connecting patrons with people and resources. She is excited about reconnecting with students on campus and focusing that support on our own community.
