On January 25th, 2023, grant applications for National Institutes of Health (NIH) programs will be required to conform to the new data management and sharing policy announced in 2020.

While the NIH and many other funders have required data management plans (DMPs) as part of grant proposals for many years, the 2023 updates require more documentation of proposed plans for data archiving and preservation, as well as the identification of relevant metadata standards and formats.

The NIH web site provides an overview of existing (pre 2023) DMP components compared with the new updates.

Additional information to support grant writing and data management relevant to health researchers in The Claremont Colleges Community is available below.
