Are you finishing a term paper, working on a senior thesis, or perhaps you have a really cool video, poster, data or map-based project? Want to learn how to turn that academic work into a CASH prize? Then read on!

The Claremont Colleges Library Undergraduate Research Award (LURA) recognizes exemplary, original student work that demonstrates skill and creativity in the use of library and information resources. Winners receive both recognition and a cash prize ranging from $500 to $1,500 for their work, pending the award category.

The award is open to projects in various formats by individuals or groups, as long as all applicants are undergrads currently enrolled at one of The Claremont Colleges and the work was done for a class or independent study at The Claremont Colleges. You don’t even have to be finished with your paper or project — works in progress will be accepted! The most important part of your submission is the reflective essay where you will discuss meaningful connections with the Library through the use of its resources and services.

Submissions are due Friday, March 6, 2026 by 11:59 p.m. You can review examples from prior LURA award winners by visiting our institutional repository, Scholarship@Claremont.

For more information, visit the award homepage or contact the LURA committee LibraryResearchAward@claremont.edu with any questions.
