Night Owls is Back, In-Person!

Hoot, hoot! The Claremont Colleges Library tradition of keeping the building open 24/7 to support students through finals week is back in person this semester!

Visit and bookmark our Night Owls Guide to stay up-to-date on the various Library-hosted de-stressing events, food and beverage breaks, and resources such as self-care tips, mindfulness and meditation tools, links to our leisure reading collections, and more. 

Here is this semester’s Night Owls line-up:

  • Pizza Night (Sunday, 12/12) – Join us at the beginning of finals week with our pizza night tradition where Library staff will serve up hot slices of pizza in the Tent on Tenth (North of the Library).
  • 2 offerings: Craft Night and Game Night (Monday, 12/13) – We’ll get crafty and make DIY glass marble magnets, then store them in an upcycled Altoids tin. For you gamers out there, join in on quick-play board games (10-30 minutes), as well as individual rounds of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. Stop by one or both events!
  • Printing Pop-up: Holiday Cards (Wednesday, 12/15) – New this year, we are offering a printing pop-up with Jeff Groves (HMC) in the First-Floor Press (Honnold 1). Students, faculty, and staff can drop by to print one of three typeset holiday card designs on the Chandler & Price presses.
  • Roving Refuel Cart & Midnight Coffee & Tea (Monday, 12/13 – Thursday, 12/16) – Library staff will provide coffee and tea to fuel your study session. When our cart is out of action, you can refuel with our Midnight Coffee & Tea service near the Main Services Desk.
  • Snack Breaks (Wednesday, 12/8 – Thursday, 12/9 and Monday, 12/13 – Wednesday, 12/15) – Starting during reading days, a few days before we open 24/7. Take an afternoon breather from preparing for finals and enjoy a snack break in the fresh air! Library staff will be on the South Patio serving up some filling snacks to keep you studying until dinner time.
  • Owl See You in the Stacks – Keep an eye out for plush owls we have hidden throughout the Library during finals week. If you find one, bring it to the Main Services Desk on Honnold 1 to redeem your finals week wellness kit prize! Stay tuned on social media for clues!
