Update on Library Accounts for New Students, Faculty, & Staff

August 28, 2020

Due to technical delays, most new Claremont faculty, students, and staff will not have a Library account automatically created for them.* The Library account does not grant you access to content; It only allows you to see what physical items you have checked out. If you wish to check out print books, DVDs, or tech lending items (available for pickup or mailing), an account will be created for you once you submit a borrowing request.

We expect this issue to be resolved by mid-late September, at which point accounts will automatically be generated for all new students, faculty, and staff.

Good news! You still have access to online articles, e-books, and databases using your campus login credentials and can request items to be mailed to your or for pick-up without your Library account.

To access online resources, use Library Search to find sources. If items are available online, you will see results with buttons that say, “View eBook”, “View PDF”, “View full text”, or “View now”. For example:

Once you click one of these purple buttons you will be taken to the Central Authentication Service Login page where you will be prompted to select your college and enter your login credentials:

Once you select your institution and add your username and password, you’ll be taken to the resource.

*As of 8/27/20, we have only been able to automatically create Library accounts for new KGI, Harvey Mudd, and TCCS students, faculty and staff. Until the technical delays are resolved in mid-late September all other new students, faculty, and staff will not have Library accounts created until they request items for pickup or mailing.
